Fashion Is Not Sustainable!

Daily writing prompt
Are there things you try to practice daily to live a more sustainable lifestyle?

As a fashion connoisseur, it pains me to state that it is not sustainable. I know this is a bold statement but the fashion industry is known as one of the top polluters. The entire process of producing and consuming fashion is essentially unsustainable. This is why I make a conscious effort to enjoy fashion while still being mindful of its damaging results.

For example, I limit myself to number of items I buy in a year and what those items are. I dissect different aspects of the item such as the material, where it was made and its longevity. Emily Chan does an excellent job experimenting with this concept as the Senior Sustainability and Features Editor of British Vogue in her issue titled “I Only Bought 5 Items of Clothing This Year—Here’s What I Learned.” Upcycling and thrifting are also great ways of preventing additional textile waste.
