The most sacred possessions are often not based on their monetary value but rather their sentimental value. Scent is usually the sense that triggers the most nostalgia; However, scents are not easily preserved. Many individuals choose to value items that are associated with certain emotions.
Personally, hand written notes and cards are the personal belongings I hold most dear. Most often, hand written notes and cards are the most vulnerable form of communication because they are authentic. They remind me of how fortunate I am to have strong relationships with the people around me. Even if these relationships change over time, these cards showcase the various connections I’ve had throughout my life. The emotional value of these cards do not deteriorate because they were truly meaningful at the moment they were written.
There is something so beautiful about someone taking the time to write you a hand written note when they can easily use technology to form an insincere birthday message that would not require any emotional investment.
