One of my favourite times of the year, Couture Week! This year the collections uniquely told stories and transported me. I learned a lot about 2024 trends to expect from these collections. Stay tuned for a summary of everything you need to know about style trends for this year!
Let’s go through some of my favourite couture shows…
Schiaparelli:
This show set the standard high being one of the first shows of the week. Daniel Roseburry brought the drama with this alluring collection. I was absolutely mesmerized by every piece with the extenuated shapes and bold embroidery. Their futuristic approach was innovative and amazing. I mean, a mechanical baby, what!? It didn’t end with the collection, I was mesmerized by amazing pieces worn by Zendaya and Jennifer Lopez while attending the show. Did you know her white jacket was made of real rose pedals!

Dior:
Dior took a much more simplest approach, exemplifying the quiet luxury trend. The collection screamed couture and elegance through the muted tones and simple silhouettes. The best way to describe this collection is: Powerful Softness!

Chanel:
Chanel showed an airy spring collection. While still maintaining the Chanel identity with the recognizable tweed suits, Chanel had a very different approach compared to the darker themes that had been dominating the runway. Chanel celebrated light colours and a classic spring theme.

ALAÏA:
ALAÏA Fall 2024 Ready-To-Wear Collection was one of my favourite collections of Couture Week. The collection is absolutely timeless, executed with effortless fabric manipulation techniques. This collection screams elegance but uses a very modern, chic approach.

Jean-Paul Gautier:
Guest designer Simone Rocha impressed everyone with this Spring 2024 collection. From the beading to the detailing to the silhouettes, this collection screamed beauty. One of my favourite guest looks was Kylie Jenner’s translucent dress and glass shoe combo.

Armani Privé:
This collection was very unexpected for Armani, which was the goal. The styling was amazing with the fan-like headpieces. The crystals and features were a risk but ultimately completed the collection. This collection screamed delicacy but still managed to be sensual and powerful.

Victor & Rolf:
What a story this collection told! I was engaged from the beginning to the very end, eagerly waiting for what the next piece would be! This paradox collection combined a polished and raw look that was creative and memorable. The red nails were one of my favourite details and screamed mob wife. Another favourite, obviously!

Valentino:
I was surprised about how much I liked this collection. Valentino used bold colours in their pieces, which I am usually hesitant about. However, the textures and intricate detailing of this collection were executed flawlessly. Despite the boldness of the colours, the collection had an effortless element that Pier Paolo Piccioli focused on.

Fendi:
We got a tease of the collection with Zendaya’s look before the show. Fendi brought elegance with an edgy perspective. The collection screamed luxury but also seemed very wearable. I loved the styling with the glasses and earrings as an accessory, this instantly elevated the looks. Of course, this was also one of my favourites (no one said I had to pick one)!

Maison Margiela:
Utterly speechless! There is no way to describe this collection accurately. Let’s start with theatrics, the drama was present and took a surrealist approach. This collection did not tell a story but transported you into the story. From the hourglass shapes to the corset and lace, chef’s kiss! Shoutout to the models, they did an incredible job executing the vision of this collection.
