One of the main fashion events of the year recently took place: The Golden Globes. This award ceremony has quickly become a fashion competition that causes viewers to eagerly rank their favourites. This year I was widely impressed with the various captivating and classic looks that were praised by many.
The Golden Globes are known for iconic sequin gowns, which we saw a few magnificent examples of this year. One of the initial icons that owned this trend was Mariyln Monroe in her Norman Norell gown at the 1962 Golden Globes. We have seen Kim Kardashian reference Marilyn’s sequin dresses in the past. However, one of the admired sequin gowns of the 2024 Golden Globes was Taylor Swift’s green dress designed by Gucci.

Emily Blunt’s tribute to Sarah Burton was one of my favourite fashion moments. The gold embroidered gown was Sarah Burton’s last Alexander McQueen Red-Carpet dress. Lenny Kravitz also strutted a black Alexander McQueen jumpsuit that was both classy and sexy.

A few attendees took a minimalistic and quiet approach to their looks. Some of my favourite gowns of the night were not embellished or lathered in sparkles. Camila Morrone’s beautiful pink Givenchy dress looked like it came from a fairytale and Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior gown proved that a classic black dress will always be iconic.

There were also a few vintage looks that captured my attention this year. Andra Day in George Chakra Couture looked incredible in an asymmetrical black ruffled dress. Coincidentally, Carey Mulligan also attended in a black mermaid gown in vintage Schiaparelli. I have to agree that these looks deserve to be in Vogue’s Best Dressed Stars article. Finally, my last favourite vintage look was also a black gown worn by Rosamund Pike by Dior Couture.

However, many other celebrities deserve to be mentioned including..
- Hannah Waddingham in Suzanne Neville
- Barry Keoghan in Louis Vuitton
- Colman Domingo in Louis Vuitton
- Greta Lee in Loewe
- Christina Ricci in Fendi
- Pedro Pascal in Bottega Veneta
- Jennifer Aniston in Dolce & Gabbana
- Jeremy Allen in Prada
- America Ferrera in Dolce & Gabbana
Finally, one of the most popular looks of the 2024 Golden Globes was Margot Robbie’s Armani sequin gown. Margot Robbie has been continuously impressing me with her looks and she did not let disappoint with her first 2024 appearance. She celebrated her role as Barbie in this 1977 SuperStar Barbie-inspired gown. The rumor is that she changed into the black version of this dress for the after-party. This memorable moment will forever be remembered in the history of the Golden Globes.
